EventCounselling Support Group for Moms

Calling all Mama’s!

We are two professional counsellors and mothers who are passionate about creating safe space for fellow mothers to connect, express and get support. We know how difficult it can be when we are nurturing others, to make the time and space to nurture ourselves. So we’ve created ‘Breathing Space’ – a bi-monthly counselling support group for moms of all ages and stages where you can bring all of your feelings – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

All mothers are welcome – whether your kids are small or all grown up, and including LGBTQIA2+ and those with non-traditional families. We invite you to take this opportunity to leave the family at home and fill your cup in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

Please note, this is not a drop-in group and regrettably, we do not provide childcare. Entry is by registration only. Please email us if you have questions at info@breathingspacecounselling.ca.

What Can You Expect?

A safe, inclusive and non-judgmental space
Led by two open-hearted and skilled counsellors, you will have the chance to connect with other mothers and realize you are not alone in the middle of your challenges. Motherhood can feel lonely and this is a great community to be a part of.

Opportunities to share and receive support
Weekly invitations to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing, while receiving support to move through whatever struggles or obstacles you may be experiencing.

The chance to gain clarity and new perspectives
Breathing Space is a great environment to learn new emotional skills (or strengthen existing ones) and to see your life and relationships from new perspectives. Leave each week feeling inspired – with increased insight into your life and clarity about your next steps.

I have to give a shout out to Nasreen Gulamhusein and Shahaa Kakar from Breathing Space’s Support Group for Moms. I have joined some amazing ladies in this group — we listen, we cry, we laugh, we talk and we form amazing bonds. Last weekend, for the first time in forever, I walked into an event full of people (some I knew, some I didn’t), and I felt the most worry free and confident I have felt in forever! I feel the worries subsiding and the confidence rising and I am happy to show my children what a wonderful mother I can be. It’s still hard with my husband at times, but I feel myself getting closer to him again.
